Toffees boss praises substitutes

David Moyes believes he now has a match-winning Everton squad at his disposal. The Toffees manager watched on as a last-minute Joleon Lescott header earned Everton a 2-1 win over Bolton to continue a solid start to the season. Everton's record £11.25million signing Yakubu Aiyegbeni had marked his debut with an 11th minute opener, before Nicolas Anelka volleyed Bolton level 10 minutes after the interval. However, Lescott's late winner from a Thomas Gravesen corner earned the points. Gravesen had come off the bench on his return to the club, after a loan move from Celtic, and Moyes believes this demonstrates the strength of the Everton squad.

Positive light

"Probably in my first time at Everton we have got people on the bench who can come off and win the game for us," Moyes told Sky Sports News. "That is something we had today that we have not had in a long time. I thought the changes made a difference to the game, they made us much better. "Thomas Gravesen put a different light on the game and in the end we had two or three chances that we didn't score from. "It is good the players know about it [competition for places] and we will be changing things around. "We've got a very good group of players and we now have people on the bench who can come on and change games."
