Skysports.com understand that talks between Everton and Middlesbrough over a deal for Yakubu Aiyegbeni are ongoing.
Reports had suggested Everton had called off the deal, but the two parties are very much in touch.
As skysports.com revealed last week - Boro are asking £12million for the Nigerian international, a figure which Everton look unlikely to meet.
The Toffees have offered a deal worth up to £11million and it does appear a deal could be struck this week.
Another aspect which was holding the move up, was that Boro were keen on finding a replacement before letting Yakubu leave.
However, they are now believed to be willing to let Yakubu leave - even if they do not have a direct replacement signed.
