Middlesbrough will need to fend off fresh interest from Everton if they want to keep hold of Yakubu Aiyegbeni.
The Nigerian has become unsettled on Teesside in recent months and a number of clubs have made enquiries over the summer.
Manchester City, Portsmouth, West Ham and Aston Villa are all understood to have made contact at different points and they have now been joined in the chase by Everton.
The Toffees seemingly have money to spend and they are ready to try and tempt Boro - who have already rejected bids for Yakubu in the last few months.
Yakubu was preparing himself to start the season at Boro - but Everton's interest could very well sway the 24-year-old.
