Swindon are ready to rival Wrexham for the signing of promising striker Kaid Mohamed.

"I thought he showed a lot of potential."

Wrexham boss Brian Carey is keen to land the 22-year-old, who had an impressive trial with The Dragons, but he has now also emerged as a target for Swindon.

Mohamed played for Paul Sturrock's side in the friendly against Bristol City on Tuesday and made a positive impact on The Robins manager.

"I was very pleased with Mohamed. I thought he showed a lot of potential," Sturrock told the club's official website. "For a trialist to come into that level and tempo of a game he did very well.

"He showed he knows how to play the game and he ran his legs off, although his fitness would need working on."

Sturrock is still looking to bring in more new signings ahead of the new season, with former player Lukas Jutkiewicz top of his list.

Sturrock is looking to take the Everton striker back to the County Ground on loan and has made contact with the Premier League club.

Derby winger Lee Holmes, who has had a loan spell at Swindon in the past, is also being chased by the League One side.
