Everton are thought to be planning a move for Lille defender Nicolas Plestan.
Reports emanating from France suggest Everton are monitoring the 25-year-old's situation at Lille.
A number of clubs including Bordeaux, Paris Saint Germain, Fiorentina and English duo Newcastle and Portsmouth have all been credited with an interest in Plestan's services.
However, Everton are reported to have stepped up their interest in Plestan after having him watched over the weekend.
An Everton scout is believed to have taken in Lille's 1-0 defeat to Nancy on Saturday with Plestan the focus of the scout's attention.
Lille are keen to keep hold of Plestan and he only recently signed a new deal to tie him to the club until 2010.
