Toffees reject Hammers link

Everton have denied talk that they are to make a move for West Ham's Matthew Etherington.

Everton have denied talk that they are to make a move for West Ham's Matthew Etherington.

Reports on Tuesday claimed Everton were closing in on a move for Etherington with the player even undergoing a medical on Merseyside.

Etherington's future at Upton Park has been the subject of speculation ever since the arrival of Luis Boa Morte earlier this month.

However, Everton chief executive Keith Wyness has dismissed suggestions that Etherington could be on his way to Goodison Park

"I can categorically deny that," said Wyness of the Etherington link.

Meanwhile, Everton are thought to be planning a shock move for Leeds striker David Healy.

Everton boss David Moyes is considering his striking options after losing Andy Johnson to injury and he is pondering a move for Healy.

Moyes is a big admirer of Healy having signed him while he was in charge of Preston and he is considering a loan move for the Northern Ireland international to help cover for the injured Johnson.
