Victor Anichebe has been included in Nigeria's Under-20 squad for their African youth championship qualifier against Rwanda later this month.
The Everton striker is eligible to play for both Nigeria and England, having been born in Lagos but brought up in England.
Nigeria have now moved to try and claim the talented 18-year-old by calling him up for the upcoming game.
Anichebe was recently selected by England for an Under-19 friendly against Holland but he failed to appear in the match at Walsall.
The door is therefore still open for Anichebe to play his international football for Nigeria and he could make his debut for the Super Eagles on September 30.
