Auxerre striker Luigi Pieroni has confirmed that he has been in contact with Everton.
Talk of a move to Goodison Park has cooled over the past few weeks, but the Belgian is staying calm as the clock ticks down to the start of the new season.
He insists that he is happy to stay at Auxerre, even though a move to The Premiership would appeal.
"Everton wanted me. We had talks but there has been nothing concrete," he explained in But!.
"We will see about that in time. I am in no hurry.
"I am preparing for a new season with Auxerre, and I have two years remaining on my contract.
"I have not closed the door in case of an attractive proposition but that doesn't mean I will leave Auxerre, I am fine here."
Pieroni has also been linked with Toulouse and Ligue 1 new boys Valenciennes, and he has not ruled a switch to another French club.
"Toulouse is indeed a possibility, I know they are keeping an eye on me," he said.
"I have also heard about Valenciennes, but I don't think it is topical anymore. It was just at the end of last season."
