Joseph Yobo has handed Everton a boost by revealing he is set to sign a new deal.
The Nigerian international has been mulling over a new deal for the last year, but he is now ready to pledge his future to Everton.
A number of clubs have been credited with an interest in Yobo, but the central defender is expected to sign a new four-year deal later this week.
"I can confirm I am going to sign a new contract with Everton," Yobo told the Daily Post.
"I just did not want to rush into anything, but I had made up my mind to stay long before the end of last season.
"The delay wasn't about money, I just wanted certain commitments from the club.
"Everton are a big club and we should reasonably be challenging for a place in Europe every season.
"I see now the club also share those ambitions and some quality players are coming in."
