Everton have signed Oldham prospect Scott Spencer for an undisclosed fee.

The 17-year-old striker agreed a three-year deal with The Toffees on Friday and will begin his Goodison Park career in the club's Academy.

Spencer, who had been at Boundary Park since the age of 10, revealed his delight at the dream move.

"I am ecstatic. It is a dream come true getting my first professional contract," Spencer told Everton's official website.

"No disrespect to Oldham but this is a great move. It is a step up."

Spencer scored 29 goals for The Latics' Under-19s and reserves sides last season.

Meanwhile, former Everton youngster Laurence Wilson has joined Chester.

Wilson was released by David Moyes's side earlier this week and Chester moved quickly to sign up the left-sided player.

City chairman Steve Vaughan said: "Laurence is a great talent and we are delighted to have clinched his signature."
