The agent of Everton pair Gary Naysmith and David Weir has confirmed to skysports.com that Leeds are pursuing his clients.

Both players are out of contract in the summer and should not be short of suitors in the close-season, with Leeds heading the race for their signatures.

Jim McArthur, who represents both of the Scotland internationals, admits that he has had informal contact with Leeds chief Kevin Blackwell but was keen to underplay any talk of an imminent deal.

''Leeds are very interested,'' McArthur told skysports.com. ''But it has been blown sky-high.

''There are several other clubs interested but I'm not at liberty to say who at this stage.''

Despite both players having proven their Premiership credentials, McArthur admits that a club the size of Leeds was still an appetising prospect despite their Championship status.

Weir has been offered a contract by Everton that he is deliberating over, while it seems almost certain that Naysmith will quit Goodison Park in the close-season.

''It wouldn't really be like dropping down a division,'' continued McArthur.

''Leeds are still a huge club and I'm positive that next season they'll be pushing for promotion.''
