David Moyes has nailed down suggestions that Joseph Yobo could be heading out of Everton in the January transfer window.

Newcastle boss Graeme Souness is scouring the market for top-class defensive reinforcements and Yobo is believed to be just one player to have come under the microscope.

Souness is rumoured to be ready to test Everton's resolve with a bid in January, but The Toffees are in the enviable position of not having a need to sell after receiving a king's ransom for Wayne Rooney in the summer.

Moyes is determined to keep the nucleus of his squad together and he feels Nigerian international Yobo is integral to his plans.

"There is no chance that any club will be getting Joseph Yobo in January," said Moyes. "And we won't entertain any offers that we might receive."

Yobo has struggled to hold down a place at Goodison Park following injury, but Moyes believes the centre half's class will come to the fore in the near future.

"Joseph lost his place due to injuries and others have come in and done well, but he will continue to play a big part in what we do," added Moyes.

Rangers defender Jean-Alain Boumsong and Nottingham Forest youngster Michael Dawson are believed to be other irons in the fire for Souness come January.
