Robert Earnshaw has passed a medical with West Bromwich Albion, but he has yet to agree personal terms with The Baggies and Everton are now being tipped to join the chase.
Albion agreed a fee with Cardiff City on Saturday, believed to be worth £3.5 million.
"Everything went fine with his medical but we are still talking," said the player's agent Mel Eves.
"There's been no movement on him actually signing a contract, so at this point I would stress he's still a Cardiff City player.
"But it should be just a case of looking at the finer details and going from there."
With Wayne Rooney's departure looking imminent, Everton are being linked with a late move for the Welshman, so West Brom are looking to tie up a quick deal.
