Nottingham Forest boss Joe Kinnear has signed goalkeeper Paul Gerrard on loan for the rest of the season from Premiership side Everton.
The 31-year-old completed his move before Thursday's Football League transfer deadline after falling behind Nigel Martyn, Richard Wright and Steve Simonsen in the keeper department at Goodison Park.
Gerrard has spent time in Division One this season with Sheffield United and he will look to help Forest get out relegation trouble this term.
Kinnear, meanwhile, has failed with a move to bring midfielder David Prutton back to The City Ground.
The Forest boss enquired about bringing the England Under-21 international on loan from Premiership side Southampton but admitted that he was having little fortune with his bid.
"I have tried to get one of our ex-players back who is at Southampton but I haven't had too much joy with that," Kinnear told the club's official website.
In other news, Forest have rubbished reports that defender Mathieu Louis-Jean is set to join Division One rivals West Ham United.
