EVERTON goalkeeper Richard Wright is delaying an operation on his troublesome knee injury to help the club's bid for a place in Europe this season.

The former Ipswich and Arsenal shot-stopper is playing through the pain barrier at present after aggravating the injury in the warm-up before the game at Tottenham earlier this month.

The England international needs to go under the knife to clear up the problem, but Toffees boss David Moyes revealed the keeper had put it off until the summer to bolster the club's quest for a top-six finish.

"He is carrying on at the moment, hoping it won't flare up, but he has a problem when he kicks the ball," said Moyes.

"Hopefully, he will be able to get through until the end of the season and have surgery then."
