EVERTON have suffered a blow with the news that defensive duo Gary Naysmith and Tony Hibbert will miss the rest of the season through injury.
Naysmith and Hibbert are both troubled by ankle injuries and they are set to undergo surgery next week to solve the problem.
Former Hearts star Naysmith has not featured for Everton since the FA Cup replay win over Crewe in February, while Hibbert picked up his injury in last Friday's defeat at Newcastle.
Steve Watson and Alessandro Pistone are likely to deputise for the pair at the back and Toffees boss David Moyes hopes to have them fully fit for next season.
"Both players are due surgery and if that doesn't take place this week it will do so early next week," said Moyes.
"They will miss the rest of the season but we want to have them back for pre-season training."
