BRADFORD CITY are hoping to sign Leicester City striker Arnar Gunnlaugsson on loan until the end of the season.

The Icelandic international is on the transfer list at Filbert Street and The Foxes would prefer to sell him as he out of contract at the end of the season.

Gunnlaugsson was close to joining Sheffield United on loan just last month, but the deal fell through at the last minute because of doubts over the player's fitness.

Bantams boss is looking to reinforce his attacking options to help ease any lingering relegation fears having sold Robbie Blake to Burnley and allowed Benito Carbone to join Middlesbrough on loan for the rest of the season.

Valley Parade chairman Geoffrey Richmond admitted that the club were looking at signing the former Bolton ace, but if they failed to get him they would move for Everton's transfer-listed star Danny Cadamarteri.

"We are trying to bring in Arnar Gunnlaugsson from Leicester on a contract until the end of the season," Richmond told the Yorkshire Post.

"We are holding talks with his agent and hopefully something can be sorted out before the weekend, but he is having termination talks with Leicester."

"If this falls through we will look at signing Danny Cadamarteri on a similar basis. We have held preliminary talks with his agent as well."
