EVERTON star Nick Barmby has opened talks with his club to sign an extension to his current contract, which runs out in the summer of 2001.
The mercurial forward has enjoyed something of a renaissance in the latter half of this season - and has even been mentioned as a candidate for a role in England's Euro 2000 squad.
Barmby, 26, moved to Everton from Middlesbrough in a deal worth £5.75 million in 1996 - and has recently made his 100th league start for The Toffemen, scoring nine goals this season including an impressive hat-trick against West Ham United.
