Transfer news: Lukas Podolski still part of Arsenal's plans

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger insists Lukas Podolski remains part of his plans amid talk of a January transfer.

The 29-year-old was part of the Germany squad over the summer that tasted World Cup glory in Brazil.

He has had little to celebrate at club level, though, with a bit-part role being endured at Emirates Stadium.

Podolski has aired his frustration at a lack of game time and admits he may have to explore his options in the New Year.

A return to the Bundesliga has been mooted, with there no shortage of clubs willing to offer the vastly-experienced forward the opportunities he craves.

The window will not open for a few months yet, though, and Wenger says Podolski will remain an important weapon in his attacking arsenal.

The Frenchman said: “It is quite simple, there is no transfer market at the moment. When there is no transfer market, you are all on board – or not on board. It is like that.

“This is a job where you can only be successful if you’re fully committed. You cannot be half in and half out, so all this transfer speculation is not considered at all.

“We are all on board to get results, and Podolski will be part of that.”
