Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says a new contract for France striker Olivier Giroud is a 'done deal'.

Giroud, who is out until the New Year with a fractured foot, is reported to have agreed a two-year contract extension until 2018 and Wenger admits only the formalities have to be completed.

Speaking at the press conference ahead of Wednesday's Champions League clash against Galatasaray, Wenger said: "We want stability and to keep the core of our team together and Giroud is an important player here.

"It is agreed. When it is completely done, we will announce it."

Giroud, who scored 22 goals last season, has had an impressive first two seasons with Arsenal since his arrival in a £13m deal from French side Montpellier in 2012.
