Montpellier attacker aims for winning start in Champions League

Montpellier attacking midfielder Younes Belhanda is confident that they can defeat Arsenal at home in the Champions League on Tuesday. The French champions will host the Premier League club at Stade de la Mosson in their opening Group B game. Arsenal are considered favourites to win the group that also comprises of Olympiakos and Schalke, but Belhanda warns that Montpellier should not be underestimated.

No fear

"We can defeat Arsenal at home and we can achieve something at Schalke.," he told L'Equipe. "I just hope to not finish in the last position of the group. "We will play Champions League to defeat everyone. We all have to show such a state of mind. "Everyone is talking about Arsenal, does it mean we are nothing? We have to show that we don't fear anyone." Belhanda also revealed that he could have left Montpellier in the summer if he wanted to. "There were clubs interested in me and some make you dream so much that it is difficult to say no," reflected the 22-year-old.
Summer chance
"I talked with chairman Louis Nicollin, and he said that if I really wanted to leave, then he would let me leave. "I was not ready to leave as I would have been disappointed not to play Champions League football with Montpellier, so I finally decided to stay. "I have not started the season thinking: 'I will leave in the end'. I want to give my very best - that is unquestionable."
