The highly-rated 21-year-old, full name Islam Ramadan, currently plays in his homeland for Haras El Hodood.
He has come to the attention of a host of clubs after starring at the recent Toulon tournament in France.
Lyon were linked, but Portuguese giants Benfica and Sporting Lisbon had been heading the chase.
However, Arsenal are now believed to have expressed an interest and want to check on his progress at the Olympics, where he will feature for Egypt.
After learning of Arsenal's interest, it is believed the young left-back is looking to keep his options open until after the Games in London.
