Black Cats chief not talked with striker over future

Sunderland boss Martin O'Neill admits he is yet to think about signing Nicklas Bendtner from Arsenal on a permanent basis. Bendtner joined Sunderland on a season-long loan after finding himself down the pecking order at the Emirates. The Danish international has started to show his best form in recent weeks, netting four goals in his last five Premier League outings. However, O'Neill has not given any thought to Bendtner's future and admits the player might want to return to Arsenal. "I've not thought about his future at all," said O'Neill. "I've not mentioned it to him, there's no point in putting pressure on anyone at the moment. "He's played very well and may think that with that type of performance he's still capable of breaking into Arsenal's squad."

Sessegnon praise

O'Neill also hailed Stephane Sessegnon following his virtuoso performance in Saturday's 3-3 draw with Manchester City. "He's a terrific footballer," said O'Neill. "He's got some great qualities obviously and it's a genuine delight to have him. "He's quiet off the field but he's a very, very fine player."
