Defender keen to hit back after last weekend's defeat

John O'Shea is hoping Sunderland can inflict more woe on wounded Arsenal in the FA Cup on Saturday following their humiliation at AC Milan. The Gunners visit the Stadium of Light in the fifth round of the tournament having lost 4-0 at the San Siro in midweek to leave them on the brink of UEFA Champions League elimination. Defender O'Shea is looking to take advantage of Arsenal's hurt and claim revenge for last weekend, when Arsene Wenger's men beat Sunderland 2-1 on Wearside in the Premier League. "We've got to be positive and be brave enough to keep the ball and I'm sure we'll cause them more problems on the break," he told The Journal. "Hindsight is great, you take each game as it comes. We're gutted we lost last weekend, but if we do beat Arsenal in the cup it'll soon be forgotten."

Criticism

Arsenal have attracted criticism from all sides for a poor performance in Milan, with even Wenger admitting their display was "shocking" in an uncharacteristic condemnation of his side. But Republic of Ireland international O'Shea is not expecting the Gunners to be affected by the thrashing when they make the trip to the North East. He added: "It won't necessarily give us the upper hand, because the teams in the Champions League have experienced squads to cope with it and I'm sure whatever team Arsenal put out will be full of internationals and a team more than capable of causing us problems."
