Midfielder moves to Suffolk on permanent basis

Ipswich have completed a deal for Arsenal midfielder Jay Emmanuel-Thomas on a permanent basis. The 20-year-old moves to Portman Road following a succession of loan spells at various Championship clubs over the past two seasons. Emmanuel-Thomas captained the Arsenal youth team to the FA Youth Cup back in 2009, and was strongly regarded as a player who could break into the senior squad with his level of ability. However, Emmanuel-Thomas managed just one senior start and four substitute appearances for the team he joined as an eight-year-old, and has had to ply his trade with other clubs to gain first-team football. Emmanuel-Thomas made 16 appearances in Cardiff's run to the semi-finals of the Championship play-offs last season, and has also had spells with Doncaster and Blackpool in the second tier. The midfielder becomes the Suffolk club's second signing of the day, after adding David Stockdale on a one-year loan deal from Fulham earlier in the afternoon.
