Arsenal are keeping their eye on Feyenoord youngster Stefan de Vrij, according to reports in the Dutch media.

Gunners chief scout Steve Rowley is understood to have watched the 19-year-old defender in action during the club's Eredivisie draw at ADO Den Haag on Sunday.

Arsenal are rumoured to be looking to launch a €3.5million (around £3m) bid for the youngster's signature during the summer transfer window.

The North London club would most likely sign De Vrij on a permanent deal before loaning him back to Feyenoord for another season.

De Vrij, a regular performer for the Netherlands' Under-17s, can play as a central defender or at right-back.

He has established himself as a first-team regular under coach Mario Been in Rotterdam this season, making 21 league appearances.
