Arsenal have confirmed that young goalkeeper James Shea has signed a new contract with the club.
The 19-year-old has progressed through the ranks at Emirates Stadium in recent seasons, playing a key role in the Gunners' FA Youth Cup and Premier Academy League double winning-side of 2008/09.
He went on to establish himself as a regular for the reserves and has been involved with the first-team squad this term.
Shea has provided cover for Wojciech Szczesny in recent weeks following injuries to the more experienced duo of Lukasz Fabianski and Manuel Almunia.
Earlier this season, the teenager joined in with the senior England squad when they trained at Arsenal's London Colney base ahead of the Euro 2012 qualifier against Bulgaria.
Arsenal have not specified the length of Shea's new deal but regard him as an exciting prospect for the future and are 'looking forward to James' continued contribution and development with the club'.
