Sundowns starlet hoping to impress Wenger

After having his Barcelona dream dashed, Siyanda Xulu is now looking to join the ranks at Arsenal. The young Mamelodi Sundowns defender is on trial with the English giants after seeing a move to Spain fail to materialise. Sundowns communication manager Alex Shakoane told the Sowetan that the club are delighted to hear of the interest in their development product. "We are extremely excited by the prospects that could be on the young man's horizon," he said. "It is satisfying for us that the young man is being acknowledged and pursued by such esteemed teams. "We are especially pleased that we continue to show that when you play for Sundowns the sky is truly the limit. "If Arsenal are happy with him talks will open between the parties involved."

Impress

Xulu is expected back in South Africa on 6th October and is hoping to impress manager Arsene Wenger's scouts. The Frenchman is renowned for his focus on youth, with the likes of Cesc Fabregas having become a regular in the Gunners fold at just 16 years of age. Meanwhile, Arsenal could also move for promising Zambian defender Emmanuel Mbola. The 17-year-old, who has been locked in a transfer dispute for the past year with Armenian side Pyunik Yereven, took in a trial with the Premier League giants in August. With Fifa having helped to free him from his contract in Armenia, he could now be drafted into the youth ranks at Emirates Stadium - although rivals Tottenham could provide some competition for his signature after previously having him train with them.
