Malky Mackay has reiterated his belief that Watford keeper Scott Loach should stay and develop at Vicarage Road before sealing a switch to the top-flight.

The England Under 21 international has been linked with a move in the January transfer window following a fine season as Mackay's first-choice keeper.

Despite reportedly attracting the interest of Tottenham and Arsenal, the Watford boss believes the 21-year-old should continue his development before switching to the highest level.

Genuinely want

Mackay told the Daily Star: "I genuinely want to see him playing in the Premier League.

"I watched the development of Ashley Young here and always knew he was destined for better things.

"I desperately want to see Scott playing at the top level but he needs to play and develop."
