Arsenal striker Eduardo da Silva has confirmed he will miss Euro 2008.

Injured striker misses summer showpiece

Arsenal striker Eduardo da Silva has confirmed he will miss Euro 2008. The Croatia ace suffered a broken leg and ankle in Saturday's Premier League clash with Birmingham following an early challenge from Martin Taylor. Eduadro has been moved to a London hospital as he recuperates - but he has confirmed that he will not play again this season, which also means he will miss this summer's Euro 2008 finals. Eduardo, who has been visited by Taylor before he left Birmingham, admits he cannot remember the horrific incident. "I don't remember the incident very well and it is not something that I want to see again on television or in the newspapers," he said. "All I remember is that when I fell, I looked down at my foot and it had turned the other way. The rest is just a blank."

No blame

While his manager Arsene Wenger was quick to blame Taylor - comments which he later retracted - Eduardo admits it was just 'one of those things'. "It was an unfortunate situation but these things can happen in football," he said - but then insisted he was already looking to making his comeback. "I am unsure at the moment of the extent of the injury and how long I will be out of action for, but I know that I won't be able to play for Arsenal for the rest of the season or be ready in time for the Euros this summer. "But I'm not worried about that. My concentration and determination is on making as quick a recovery as possible. I am determined to overcome this injury."
