Arsene Wenger has reiterated that Arsenal are not looking to re-sign Nicolas Anelka.

The Arsenal manager says he is not in the market for a striker, after capturing Brazil-born Croatian forward Eduardo da Silva from Dinamo Zagreb, despite rumours linking Anelka with a return to the club where he made his name.

Anelka, 28, fired Arsenal to a Premier League and FA Cup double in 1998 before securing himself a £22million move to Real Madrid a year later.

However, when asked about an attempt to capture the striker, who is now at Bolton, Wenger dismissed the prospect.

"No, we have signed Eduardo," Wenger told Arsenal TV Online.

"We do not collect strikers, we buy strikers we need."

Following the summer departure of star striker Thierry Henry to Barcelona, Wenger is also hopeful 19-year-old Danish forward Nicklas Bendtner, who spent the last campaign on loan at Birmingham, will fulfil some of his potential.

"This season, we also expect Nicklas to step forward and show us some aspects of his talent," Wenger added.
