Arsenal full back Kerrea Gilbert has revealed it was boss Arsene Wenger's idea for him to take up the option of a loan move to Cardiff City.
The England Under-19 international broke into The Gunners' first team last season amidst a defensive injury crisis at the club and featured both domestically and in the UEFA Champions League.
There are high hopes for him in North London, but Gilbert chose to take up a season-long move to Ninian Park for the coming season, and has now confirmed the decision came as a result of the managers' union.
"Arsene Wenger advised me to come here," Gilbert admitted.
"He told me it was a very good club because he speaks to Dave Jones all the time, he said I should come here.
"Dave Jones told me Cardiff was a great city and it was a great club to play at, with lots of things happening, so this is really the kind of club to be at."
The Bluebirds kick off the new Championship season against Barnsley on August 5 and the South Wales faithful will be hoping their new arrival can help bring top flight football to Cardiff for next season.
