Reports in Italy claim that Arsenal have tabled an é¼8 million (£5.5 million) bid for Chievo Verona winger Franco Semioli.
The 26-year-old enjoyed a tremendous season with The Flying Donkeys last term and has attracted a whole host of Serie A sides with Roma currently leading the race.
Arsene Wenger's scouts also have been watching the former Internazionale man for a prolonged period and it appears as though the London side have now made their interest formal by making an offer.
The Gunners are lightweight on the flanks after losing Robert Pires to Villarreal and are actively looking for new faces after finishing fourth in The Premiership last season.
However their pursuit of Semioli could be doomed to failure as the player has previously expressed his desire to stay in Serie A and move to the Italian capital with Roma.
"They (Roma) are my first choice for the way they play and the importance of the club," Semioli said recently.
Palermo recently withdrew their interest in the star, and he may yet stay at Chievo should the club not receive a favourable offer for the winger.
