Arsenal expect a decision within 24 hours on whether their pursuit of Southampton's Theo Walcott has been successful.
The Gunners are believed to be the front-runners for the teenage sensation's signature, although Chelsea and Tottenham are also in the hunt.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is desperate to land the 16-year-old, but he is not counting his chickens before they hatch.
The French tactician is remaining tight-lipped on whether Arsenal will get their man, but is expecting word from Saints within a day.
"We are very heavily in the race, but nothing is done and, as long as nothing is signed, you cannot talk about it," Wenger told the club's official website.
"However, we are hoping to get a decision in the next 24 hours."
Meanwhile, Saints reserve keeper Michael Poke has fractured his wrist and could be out of action for up to two months.
