Reyes pleads for Henry stay

Jose Antonio Reyes has urged Thierry Henry to pledge his long-term future to Arsenal.

The majestic Frenchman is currently in talks about extending his contract, despite the fact he still has two years left to run on his current deal, as talk of a summer switch to Barcelona resurfaces.

Although Henry has never spoken of a desire to quit North London, a reoccurring theme of Barcelona's interest never seems to entirely disappear.

It is expected the Catalan giants could make a renewed effort next summer to land Arsenal's new captain but team-mate Reyes is anxious for Henry to commit to a long-term stay in The Premiership.

''I signed a new contract with Arsenal this summer because I believe in this project,'' said Reyes. ''I just hope Thierry will do the same.

''If the club agrees to reward him with a huge new deal because they think it is best for the club, then I am fully behind that.

''We love having him here.''
