Mathieu Flamini believes that Arsenal already have players at the club capable of replacing Patrick Vieira in the heart of their midfield.

The 21-year-old Frenchmen did his own cause no harm with impressive displays in the Amsterdam Tournament, when The Gunners beat both hosts Ajax and Porto.

Now the former Marseille player is ready to prove to manager Arsene Wenger that he already possesses a ready-made replacement for Vieira within the existing squad.

Flamini said: "It's very pleasing to know that the coach has confidence in his players. We've all had chances to prove ourselves.

"After the sale of Vieira I think our stability will be recovered. We've got real quality in this team," he added.

Flamini also predicted that The Gunners will continue to challenge for top honours despite the loss of Vieira to Juventus.

"If we're going to have a great season it will not be down to one player - we've got to work at all aspects of our game.

"I don't think there's any reason why we can't carry it on," he stated.

In other Gunners news Robin van Persie is set to make his first appearance on Tuesday since being arrested on suspicion of rape in June.

Manager Arsene Wenger believes the low-key friendly against Belgian outfit Beveren will be the perfect opportunity to ease the 21-year-old Dutchman back into first-team action.
