Arsenal duo Jose Antonio Reyes and Gael Clichy have penned new contracts.

Reyes moved to Arsenal in 2004 from Sevilla and made an immediate impact in England.

However, he struggled at various points last season and was strongly tipped to join Real Madrid.

Despite his problems Reyes recovered his form and has now agreed to extend his stay in North London by six years.

"I am so happy to have extended my contract with Arsenal and I'm looking forward to having many more successful years with the club," said Reyes.

"I am working hard in pre-season training at the moment and I am getting ready for next season, when I will do my best to help the club challenge for all the available trophies."

Left back Clichy, who joined in 2003 from Cannes, has agreed fresh terms on a five-year contract.

"I'm delighted to have signed a new contract and to have put my future with Arsenal," said Clichy.

"I really wanted to sign a new contract and I hope it will help me to further improve.

"I hope too that we will win trophies next season and that I will have the opportunity to prove to the club and the fans that they were right to give me a new contract."
