Reports in Spain claim that Arsenal are monitoring Espanyol duo Carlos Kameni and Albert Lopo.

Both players have recently been attracting interest from The Premiership, having played key roles in Espanyol's excellent season to date.

The Catalans lie third in La Primera and are pushing for UEFA Champions League qualification, but Spanish sources claim they might still make one major sale in the summer.

Kameni, Cameroon's international goalkeeper, has been one of the revelations of the La Liga season following his arrival from Le Havre.

The 21-year-old has already caught the attention of Manchester United, and is understood to have turned down initial overtures from Old Trafford.

Meanwhile, Lopo - a powerful central defender who has come through the ranks at Espanyol - is thought to be attracting interest from Bolton Wanderers, Everton and Birmingham City.

Arsenal's need for both goalkeeping and defensive cover is well-documented, and they have dispatched chief scout Steve Rowley to watch the pair in action.

There has been no contact between the two clubs as yet, but The Gunners could well be in the race if, as expected, Espanyol do decide to cash in on one of their stars.
