Injury-prone Everton goalkeeper Richard Wright is likely to miss the Carling Cup fourth round clash with Arsenal.

Wright, who spent the 2001-02 season as David Seaman's understudy at Highbury, has a back injury.

Despite making a bright start to his Everton career the England international has made only two appearances for the club since injuring his knee 14 months ago.

Toffees manager David Moyes had intended to give Wright the chance to showcase his abilities by resting first-choice keeper Nigel Martyn.

Wright appeared set for a big future when Arsene Wenger paid £6 million to take him from Ipswich to Highbury in the summer of 2001 but the latest in a long line of injuries appears to have once again stalled his career.
