Francis Jeffers proved to manager Arsene Wenger he has not lost his scoring touch with a goal in Arsenal's 2-0 friendly win over Sturm Graz.

The England-capped striker spent last season on loan with Everton, as he was surplus to requirements at Highbury.

However, the pacey striker is back with The Gunners and showing he can still find the back of the net despite a disappointing year at Goodison Park.

Jose Reyes opened the scoring after the half hour mark when he scored from the penalty spot, before Jerome Aliadiere set up Jeffers with a close-range finish late on.

Tottenham Hotspur slipped to a 2-0 defeat against Rangers thank to goals from Nacho Novo and Dado Prso, however more worryingly, Robbie Keane was stretchered off early in the game.

Elsewhere, Fulham drew 1-1 at Patrick Thistle after the home side equalised on 70 minutes to cancel out Collins John's strike for The Cottagers shortly after half-time.

Manchester City put Hull City to the sword at The KC Stadium - with goals from Shaun Wright-Phillips, Claudio Reyna, Robbie Fowler and Paul Bosvelt sealing a comfortable win.

Goals from Shaun Bartlett and Bryan Hughes gave Charlton Athletic a 2-1 win at Wycombe Wanderers, although one of the biggest cheers of night was reserved for debutant Dennis Rommedahl.

Blackburn Rovers secured a 2-0 victory over Stockport County thanks to goals from Paul Gallagher and Lucas Neill.

Finnish striker Mikael Forssell was the hero for Birmingham City, as his goal with just 10 minutes left on the clock gave Blues a 1-0 win at Sheffield Wednesday.

A near full strength Newcastle United side crashed 2-1 at Ipswich Town, as goals from Shefki Kuqi and Pablo Counago sandwiched Laurent Robert's strike to seal the win for the East Anglian club.

A hat-trick from Yakubu Aiyegbeni, along with goals from Tresor Lomana Lua Lua and Gary O'Neil, gave Portsmouth a 5-1 victory over Plymouth Argyle.

Tony Popovic's goal lifted Crystal Palace to a 1-0 win over Sporting, while Steve Blatherwick's header lifted Chesterfield to a 1-0 win over Bolton Wanderers.
