Wenger turns to Aliadiere

ARSENAL'S beseiged manager Arsene Wenger is ready to turn to French starlet Jeremie Aliadiere as he looks to inject some youthful panache into his line-up.

Wenger is busy trying to deal with the threat of suspension to a number of his stars, although none of the six charged by The Football Association are forwards, but has been afforded some bright news by the form of Aliadiere on his return from injury.

The 20-year-old made an instant impression when breaking into the side, scoring against West Brom last season, but a groin injury scuppered his bid to become a regular member of Wenger's plans.

"I am tempted to throw Jeremie into the first team," Wenger told L'Equipe.

"He has a great chance to play now.

"He was absent for a long period, but, since he came back in August, he has been close to the level we want."

Thierry Henry remains Arsenal's biggest attacking threat, but Sylvain Wiltord has still to completely prove his worth this term and, as things stand, will be a Bosman free transfer next year unless he puts pen-to-paper on a new contract.

Dennis Bergkamp started in the stormy goalless draw with Manchester United, and Kanu came off the bench in the Champions League reverse to Internazionale, but Wenger now seems willing to hand Aliadiere the opportunity to impress.
