McClaren warns Gunners

MIDDLESBROUGH boss Steve McClaren has warned Arsenal that his side could deal a serious blow to their title hopes when they meet this weekend at the Riverside.

The Teessiders have already beaten Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle at the Riverside this season and have one of the best home records in The Premiership.

McClaren plans to keep that run going against Arsenal and dent their title aspirations.

"We beat Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle here and we also drew with Chelsea and Everton," McClaren told the club's official website.

"We've got a good record against the top boys and we want to maintain that. There's no better team to come to the Riverside on Saturday than Arsenal.

"They are one of the top two teams in the country and the current champions. It will be a great game on Saturday and I'm really looking forward to it."

Meanwhile, Boro are sweating over the fitness of midfield star Geremi for the visit of Arsenal.

The Cameroon international sustained an ankle ligament injury in last weekend's draw at Manchester City and he is rated extremely doubtful for the game.

"He doesn't want to miss out and showed tremendous character to play on last week,"added McClaren.

"We needed him to stay on to get a result and he did that. He's doing everything possible to make sure he's there.

"He's touch and go and he might train tomorrow and we'll certainly give him every chance to get fit. There's still time yet, who knows, come Saturday he may be there."
