SWISS defender Philippe Senderos says that he is convinced he has made the right choice by joining Arsenal, despite interest from across Europe.

Liverpool and Manchester United had been in the hunt for the highly-rated starlet, as had Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Barcelona.

The 17-year-old has, however, agreed to move to Highbury and is convinced that the switch to England, and to The Gunners, is the correct choice.

"English football has always attracted me," said Senderos.

"I have great respect for Arsenal, I have always liked this club. I have watched out for their results in Europe and love the stadium and fans.

"I am happy to have made my decision with my head and my heart, and I am convinced I have made the right choice.

"Real Madrid is a club full of confirmed stars, and I think that I have a lot to prove before I could claim I was good enough to play there."

It is thought that Senderos will pen a deal of at least three years, with a sum of ‚é¼6 million being shared out between his Swiss club Servette and the player himself.

Both parties are happy with the deal and Senderos is hoping that he can continue to progress and develop into one of the best stoppers in Europe.

Senderos believes that he has a much better chance of first team action under Arsene Wenger, and has pointed to his record for bringing on young players as a major factor in his decision.
