The Juventus custodian has grown frustrated at spending much of the past two seasons on the bench - first behind Edwin van der Sar, and then the world's most expensive goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon.
Carini has made it clear that he is seeking a route out of Delle Alpi, as he bids to find first team football, ironically something that he is unlikely to be guaranteed at Arsenal.
The suggestions are that Carini's arrival will see Richard Wright move on to Everton, but this still leaves England international David Seaman, at least ostensibly, as number one at the club.
A second suggestion that has surfaced in the English press is that The Gunners will make a bid money move for Sunderland's brilliant Dane Thomas Sorensen.
Sorensen's form for The Black Cats over the past few seasons has pushed him high onto many managers` wanted lists, although his club are understandably reticent to part with one of their star men.
Meanwhile Juventus legend Giuseppe Corradi has died at the age of 70.
Corradi won two Scudettos with the Bianconeri, and played for Italy in the 1950s.
