Van Bommel Barca link resurfaces

BARCELONA have again been linked with a move for PSV Eindhoven's Dutch international midfielder Mark van Bommel, according to reports in Spain.

The 25-year-old, who also has been strongly linked with a summer move to Premiership side Arsenal, is valued at the £20 million mark by PSV.

Barca coach Luis van Gaal has already revealed his admiration for the tough-tackling midfielder, and could be ready to launch an official bid for the star, who is almost certain to leave the Philips Stadion this summer.

The Catalan side, who finished a disappointing fourth in La Liga last season behind Valencia, Deportivo and Real Madrid, are keen to bring in some fresh faces in the summer in a bid to launch a serious title challenge.

With Luis Enrique coming to the end of his illustrious career, van Gaal sees the Dutchman as the ideal candidate to strengthen the middle of the park and assist rising talent Xavi.

Argentinian international midfielder Juan Sebastian Veron and Chelsea's Dutch striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink are also rumoured to be on van Gaal's wanted list.
