ARSENAL have called a press conference for Thursday afternoon, where they are expected to unveil the £5 million capture of Ipswich Town goalkeeper Richard Wright.

The 23-year-old England international will be the latest recruit for the Gunners taking their spending to over £20 million after the arrivals of Francis Jeffers, Giovanni van Bronckhorst and Sol Campbell over the last month.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger earlier revealed that he had signed Wright, preferring the Ipswich shot-stopper to Feyenoord`s Jerzy Dudek.

"It is true, our defence is getting old and this morning we signed a new goalkeeper in Richard Wright, because David Seaman was born in 1963," Wenger said.

The press call at Highbury is scheduled for 5.30 BST and planetfootball.com will bring all the news as it happens.

The news of Wright`s arrival at Arsenal is sure to anger Feyenoord, who had said earlier on Thursday that they make take legal action if Dudek did not move to North London.
