WILSON DISMISSES AMANKWAAH RUMOURS

BRISTOL CITY boss Danny Wilson has played down speculation linking highly-rated teenager Kevin Amankwaah with a move to the Premiership.

According to reports, Arsenal are monitoring the 18-year-old full-back who has made an immediate impact at the Second Division side since making his debut last season.

The former England Under-17 international is regarded as one of the brightest prospects in the country and he has signed a four-year deal with The Robins to keep him at Aston Gate until 2004.

Amankwaah has impressed in his five appearances this season and Wilson admitted that he would not be surprised if the player was attracting the interest of some of the bigger clubs.

"I only know what I have read in the press, but it wouldn't be a surprise if some bigger clubs were looking at Kevin because he has done very well since coming into the side," said Wilson. "He has terrific potential, but as yet that is all it is.

"We've certainly heard nothing from any other club at this stage."
