Transfer news: Fabio Borini agent says move to Liverpool still in balance

Fabio Borini’s agent has admitted that Sunderland’s bid of around 18million euros is still on the table, and could still be accepted by Liverpool.

With the imminent arrival of Mario Balotelli moving Borini even further down the pecking order at Anfield, the Italian striker looks likely to leave in order to secure more regular first-team football.

The Black Cats boss Gus Poyet is evidently keen on securing the return of Borini, but agent Marco Antonio De Marchi revealed that while Sunderland’s bid still stands, Napoli have been touted as potential suitors.

“About 20 days ago, Sunderland made a really important offer for Borini, about 18million euros,” told Radio CRC.

“What will happen after the 31st August I don’t know.

“Napoli would be good, but I have not spoken to them yet.

“Should they call me, I have to listen.”

Poyet also admitted to being in the dark about where Borini’s future lies, and insisted the whole saga is rather frustrating.

Asked if the club would set a deadline for signing Borini, Poyet said: "I have asked myself many, many times. I don't know, to be honest, I don't know if we need to put a date on it or not. I don't know.
