Victor Moses: Chelsea are preparing to face Basel in the Europa League on Thursday night

Victor Moses would 'love' to see Frank Lampard stay at Chelsea next season but is not speculating about the possible return of Jose Mourinho.

The Stamford Bridge club are preparing for Thursday night's Europa League semi-final first leg at Basel as they continue their quest to end the season with a trophy along with finishing in the Premier League's top four.

Beyond the conclusion of the campaign, it is uncertain what the future holds for Chelsea, with interim boss Rafa Benitez set to leave and a potential change in playing staff when the transfer window opens.

England international Lampard looks like he is set to leave when his contract expires in the summer but, even at the veteran age of 34, he remains a star player and has scored 14 goals for Chelsea this season.

And Moses said of Lampard in an interview in association with Western Union, whose PASS initiative is turning every pass in this season's Europa League into funding to support one day's education for young people around the world: "He has been magnificent for us this season.

Frank Lampard: The midfielder's contract expires at the end of the season and his future is uncertain

"He has scored goals and created goals at the same time. He is a legend at the club and the players would love to see him next season."

Another change at Chelsea over the close-season is likely to be a new manager to succeed Benitez, who was brought in to replace Roberto Di Matteo in November.

Chelsea fans dream of a return of their former 'Special One', current Real Madrid boss Mourinho, after he left the club in 2007 at the end of three trophy-laden years.

But Moses, who only moved to Stamford Bridge in 2012, does not want to add to the gossip, as he said: "At the moment, there is the rumour going on that Jose Mourinho is coming back.

"He is a good manager but we are just concentrating on playing games and trying to stay in the top four and then playing in the Champions League next season."

Tough task: Basel will prove difficult opposition after knocking out Tottenham

But Chelsea's immediate focus is on a difficult game at Tottenham Hotspur's Europa League conquerors, Basel.

Including their penalty shoot-out success against Spurs, Murat Yakin's team have gone six games unbeaten at St Jakob Park and they will pose tough opposition.

"We are playing against Basel. They are a great club. They knocked Spurs out. It is a massive tournament.

"We won the Champions League last season, so, if we can win the Europa League this season, it would be a good achievement for the club and the players as well."
