Liverpool boss says he gets on well with American owners

Brendan Rodgers has insisted he is in charge of transfers at Liverpool and has already built up a good relationship with the club's owners. The Northern Irishman was named as Kenny Dalglish's successor earlier in the summer and is currently preparing for his first season at the Anfield helm. He is keen to get the team playing in a certain way and says he is under no pressure to sign particular players, as he works closely with managing director Ian Ayre. "That was one of the key points for me coming in," Rodgers told Sky Sports News. "I believe in communication, which is very important, so I have a really good working relationship with the managing director Ian Ayre, and he and I speak on a daily basis.

Relaxed

"They are getting on with doing the work, in terms of looking at the targets that we want to bring in. "I am quite relaxed in relation to the type of targets I want to bring in." Rodgers maintains that he also has easy access to the club's American owners and has spoken with them regularly since taking the job. He explained: "With the owners I have got regular contact, and that was important for me, so there is a clear pathway for me to the owners and I like to communicate with them and it has been great so far."
